TRANSFORMATIONAL PAINTING CIRCLES EXPLORE PERSONAL MYTHOLOGY
Painting Circle is a way to get in touch with personal themes, symbols and archetypes. It does not require skill or experience in the visual arts. Painting Circle is an intimate supportive venue to create courage and congruency as we discover the stories that align with our deepest values. In small groups, we paint on large format industrial paper with acrylic paint, three hours a week,throughout the month, keeping a journal with digital images of the painting stages. In time this process has proven to develop trust in our innate process, lessen attachment to outcome and increases confusion endurance which is an aspect of creative innovation. We also become more at ease with not-knowing and sustain presence of being for longer periods. The underlying goal of this work is to trust our original integral wholeness as we witness and release the blocks of separation. It is paradoxical that even though images of the psyche can only be truth-felt by one’s self, we need the projective reflection of others to reveal our blind spots. Making conscious that which has been unconscious transcends the analytical with image and metaphor.
