Painters, I have been planning a workshop with Judith from Golden Paints that focuses on different kinds of techniques, textures & papers for collage, with the idea of building some resources and new vocabulary for your paintings. When she shard with me a couple of days ago that she had just returned from the Women in Abstract Expressionism in Palm Springs and was totally excited about it, I asked her if she might gear the afternoon of the workshop to exploring some of those paintings in relation to the materials that she knows so well.
The collage part is not just to be a demonstration but we will be creating pieces that you can use in your artwork. You may want to bring decorative papers and some color Xerox of images that are interesting visually or have special meaning for you. Bring different sizes, multiples and some with distorted color. There are also fabrics that you can print on at Beverly’s like cotton, organza & silk which would be great to use various gels and mediums to experiment with.
